A teenager who says he was tased by a Minneapolis cop last spring even though he had surrendered, has filed suit.
18 year old Rolando Ruiz names the city of Minneapolis in his suit, along with police chief Tim Dolan and individual officers.
The suit seeks reasonable damages between 75 and 400 thousand dollars, punitive damages and a jury trial.
Chief Dolan has released a statement calling the incident, "very disturbing."
When he was tased, Ruiz was being arrested in northeast Minneapolis on suspicion of damage to property. A criminal complaint says he had taken a brick and thrown at a vehicle owned by a police officer. Ruiz pled guilty to a gross misdeameanor.
