The lifelong Twin Cities resident got started in radio in Illinois then moved home to WWTC in 1973, after that John spent six years with Hubbard Broadcasting on KSTP AM and hosting Twin Cities Today on KSTP TV. He returned to radio in 1981when Hines and Berglund helped take WLOL FM to the top of the ratings.
