Former Twin Jerry Koosman To Be Sentenced

Former Twins pitcher Jerry Koosman is set to be sentenced for tax evasion this week in Madison, Wisconsin. Koosman, of Osceola, allegedly failed to pay federal income taxes for 2002, 2003 and 2004, owing as much as $90,000.

The 66 year-old Koosman told investigators he researched tax laws and concluded that only federal workers, corporate employees and District of Columbia residents were subject to federal taxes. He pleaded guilty in May. His sentencing is set for Thursday. He could face up to a year in prison. Koosman originally is from Appleton, Minnesota.
