Jerry Bujold was born on May 5, 1924, and was the oldest of 4 children. Jerry grew up in Duluth, MN in the heat of the depression, and suffered from polio when he was 9 and 10 years old. He was in a full body cast for over a year, which caused some life-long challenges, but he always overcame the obstacles and joined the Army Air Force at 19 years old. During the army entry exam, he knew that he didn't have the reflexes that the other men had, so when the doctor tapped his knee, Jerry knew to kick his leg- so, he passed the physical and served as a navigator in World War II until he was 21. He was stationed in the South Pacific Theater (Philippines) and was in occupied Japan after the war was over, before coming back to Minnesota. Once he returned home, he started working for General Foods as a salesman, and worked there for 35 years. Jerry has been married to Julie for 60 years this summer, and is turning 86 this May. They have 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
