Sports Huddle with Sid and Dave: Sundays 9:30AM-Noon

Sid Hartman

Over the past 50 years, Sid Hartman has become a genuine Twin Cities institution. His incredible work ethic has made him one of the most knowledgeable, and yet controversial sports gurus around. Everyday, both athletes and fans listen to Sid's reports on WCCO and read his Star Tribune column to find out the latest news in the sports world. In 2006, Sports Huddle, his weekly Sunday morning show with Dave Mona, celebrated its 25th anniversary, providing proof of Sid's universal appeal.
Early on in his career, Sid began building tight relationships with his sources. And today, legends like Bud Grant, Bobby Knight and George Steinbrenner are among his close personal friends. Though his critics - or as Sid calls them, geniuses - don't always agree with his style, they can't deny Sid's contribution to professional sports in Minnesota.

Despite the many hours Sid puts into his work, he always manages to find time for his children and three grandchildren. His family and work even meet at times; Sid's son, Chad, inherited his passion and now also works as a sportscaster. Maybe someday, they will get a chance to work together.

Dave Mona

Dave Mona, the co host of the WCCO Sports Huddle on Sunday mornings has a diverse background in the media business. Dave played all sports atMinneapolis Roosevelt High School, and his father, Lute Mona, was a coaching legend, spending 35 years as the head basketball coach at Minneapolis South.

He has been the color analyst on WCCO Radio's University of Minnesota football broadcasts for eight years and last year won both the AP and Edward R. Murrow writing awards for his pre-game vignettes.
