Steve Thomson

Steve's Blog

For Steve Thomson, it was a childhood dream to work at 'CCO. His heroes growing up included Herb Carneal, Ray Christensen, Steve Cannon and Boone & Erickson. Steve grew up in the northern suburbs in the shadow of the WCCO transmitter, dreaming of a chance to be an announcer someday. Dreams do come true.

Thomson was born in St. Paul and grew up in Champlain. He graduated from Anoka High School, attended the University of Minnesota and Brown Institute. He has spent 15 years in radio in Montevideo, MN; Sioux Falls, SD: and then was hired in October 1997 at WCCO.

Thomson moved to weekend afternoons in early 1998 and thoroughly enjoys talk radio and interacting on topics from politics to pop culture. He's a lifelong Minnesota sports fan, and says his highlights include hosting the Twins pre-game and post-game shows, College Football Final on Saturday afternoons, and filling in for Mike Max. Steve married his wife Michele in 1989, and they have two daughters. He enjoys golf, reading and following the kids in their school related and sporting activities. He says without the support from family and friends his radio career would not be possible.
