Jack Rice Bio
The Jack Rice Show can be heard Weekdays, Noon to 3pm
The Jack Rice Show is a unique radio experience that takes you to where news is happening. However, unlike a news report that gives you a 30 second to two-minute sound bite, Jack has a slightly different approach. Jack takes you to places and introduces you to people affected by the news and explains how these news events affect you and why you should care about them. He covers news stories on a local, national and international basis and has interviewed people who make the news like: Jimmy Carter, Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleezza Rice, Walter Mondale, Karl Rove, Barak Obama, Joe Biden, Dan Rather, Helen Thomas, Mike Wallace, Bob Dole, Elizabeth Dole, Alberto Gonzales, John Ashcroft, Ed Meese, Newt Gingrich, Arianna Huffington, Seymour Hersh, Tom Friedman and Tony Snow.
Jack has traveled extensively with his show, taking listeners, through the magic of radio, to places around the world including Kosovo, Kuwait, Israel and Palestine and UN Headquarters. While in Iraq, Jack hung around American soldiers and Iraqis to bring our CCO listeners human stories they couldn’t find elsewhere. He was also recently at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to focus on detainees and the war on terror. While in Mississippi, he went down to Camp Shelby for Minnesota National Guard’s largest deployment since World War II. In addition, he also went to the Gulf to visit with Hurricane Katrina survivors who are still trying to survive a year later; Jack has broadcast shows from both the White House and from just off the Senate floor on Capitol Hill and has plans to take the show to many more venues in the future.
Jack is a former CIA Special Agent and Field Operations Officer as well as a former prosecuting attorney and trial lawyer. He is also a frequent contributor to NBC Nightly News, MSNBC, WCCO-TV and other media outlets around the country. As if that weren't enough, he writes frequently for newspapers and magazines.
Rice has a bachelor's degree in history for San Diego State University. He also graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School. He and his wife Marlo live in the Twin Cities with their four daughters.
