The new Interstate 35W bridge in Minneapolis has been named a 'project of the year ' by the American Public Works Association. The association awards are presented annually to recognize excellence in public works projects. This year the group selected 19 projects for the honor.
The 35W bridge was constructed in less than a year by crews working around-the-clock following the disastrous collapse of the old span in August 2007.
