St. Paul police are investigating the death of a woman in her East Side home last night as a homicide. A neighbor called 9-1-1 around 9:30pm and when police arrived at the home on the 1000 block of Barclay Street, they found a woman dead. She's been identified as 67-year-old Jean Wassenaar.

Police say her husband was outside the home when officers arrived. The man, who is considered a suspect in the death, was despondent and transported to Regions Hospital for evaluation.  The manner and cause of death are under investigation.
